WHY RACERS ARE COOL FOR SCHOOL

There are many ways of improving your lap times in a racing car, particularly when you’re starting out. But what – in terms of bang for your buck – is the most effective way? The bosses of Britain’s racing driver schools reckon they offer it.

“It is the cheapest way of going quicker,” Pete Edwards, owner and senior instructor of Mallory Park’s and Lydden Hill’s The Motorsports School, tells Motorsport News about the tuition.

“We say to our clients when they’re coming to get their race licence, let’s get the best out of you before you go spending any more money on your vehicle. Because people are under this false impression that ‘I’m a second and a half off the pace, we need more power’. People think just throwing more money at the car will make it better. Well, nine times out of 10, the problem is with the person sat in the driving seat.
