SECRETS OF Sonderwunsch

Total 911: Alexander, we’ll start by asking you what is Sonderwunsch at Porsche?

Alexander Fabig: Sondwerwunsch is where we realise a customer’s specific wishes when it comes to colours, materials and design elements.

What’s the difference between Exclusive and Sonderwunsch?

Exclusive is the term we use for the options for individualisation that you find either on the online configurator or a small, series car like the Sport Classic or Targa Heritage Design Edition. Sonderwunsch sits outside of the catalogue of options.

The Sonderwunsch department has been rapidly expanding in recent times. What does it look like now, from a customer point of view?

Sonderwunsch is for all cars of all ages. It can be a classic, used, or new. Our process comprises three groups that the customer can enter, with the first called Factory Commission. This is for the new production cars that you can order directly from the factory with your wishes. You choose the colour and trim materials.

The second one is called Recommissioning. This is where the customer already has a car. A typical example is a Carrera GT owner. They’re usually the second or third owner, so the customer may not have had the new car experience.
