NEW FACES IN MISTERLAND

IT STARTED with a question only a child would ask and led to a publishing phenomenon that’s still growing more than 50 years later.

The question – posed by eight-year-old Adam Hargreaves to his father, Roger – was, “What does a tickle look like?”

Turns out it’s orange and round with a smiley face, little legs and long wiggly arms all the better to tickle you with.

Mr. Tickle was the first character in the perennially popular Mr. Men and Little Miss book series, which have become a favourite among generations.
