A parakeet that lights up the mountains

A GAINST the multi-green background, the winking yellow flashes moved rapidly across the field of view, like fire-flies at hyperspeed. It was a tight-knit group of flame-winged parakeets , skimming across the tops of the vegetation in typical Pyrrhura fashion as they headed for a new feeding site. If they are feeding quietly in the bushes, these little parakeets can be easily overlooked, until the moment they open their wings to expose the brilliant yellow patches.
