‘I was told I had killed my mother’

son pleads not guilty

A DURBAN man, who allegedly stabbed his mother to death, had spent the day shopping with her and his girlfriend and later consumed cocaine and dagga with a friend.

This emerged at the start of trial of 23-year-old murder accused, Uveer Jaganath, in the Durban Regional Court on Tuesday.

Jaganath pleaded not guilty to killing his mother, Jessica, 43, at their Clare Estate home on May 6, 2021.

Krishen Shah, senior State advocate, said they intended to prove Jaganath guilty of the murder as he had “unlawfully and intentionally” killed Jessica.
