Breathers
I have a Mini which was originally 998cc but I have just fitted a 1275cc Metro unit. The original 998 engine had one breather at the back of the block which went into the SU carb. The 1275 has two breathers, one on the timing cover and one on the flywheel housing. What is the best way to deal with these, should I plumb the two pipes into one or should I use a breather filter, maybe on the flywheel housing?

You can do either. The easiest option is to connect the original breather pipe from the timing cover to the carb and fit a breather filter to the flywheel housing breather cannister. This will act as a double filter so there should be little if any oil mist going over the engine and it is the system I am currently using on my yellow Mini.
Disc brake size
I have a 1980later 8.4-inch discs. What are the advantages and disadvantages of each of the systems? I am having difficulty deciding which to go for; can you help at all?
