Public gardens take crucial steps to cope with climate change

A run of record-breaking weather has led climate scientists to declare that global warming has entered a new phase. March 2024 was the world’s warmest month since records began 175 years ago, while the 18 months to March 2024 were the wettest for England since 1836. Although the Pacific weather system El Niño compounded these extremes, our long-term trend is on a warmer, wetter trajectory. Forecasters predict summer 2024 will be the UK’s hottest yet.
