Look after sweetcorn

Water sweetcorn if the soil dries out. Soak them at ground level and apply mulch afterwards to reduce surface evaporation. They don’t need as much water as some fruiting crops, but keep your eye on the cobs – when they start to swell, water again to improve their development. Hand weed regularly around the plants too, as hoeing can damage the surface roots. If you’re growing them in a windy site, earth up soil around the base of the stems to help steady these
