Keep rambling roses under control

Tie in the long new shoots on rambling roses to save them from snapping in the wind and to make sure they cover their supports and flower next year. Wear gloves to protect your hands from thorns.

Pull the stems down carefully to avoid snapping them and tie them to their support with soft string, making it loose enough for the stem to expand as it grows. The more horizontal the stems are, the better they will be at flowering along the whole length rather than just at the tips.
