You might recall a few years back when NZ Performance Car dabbled in the street meet scene in issue 285 by featuring the Rotationals: Winter Meet, held on an empty industrial road in Hobsonville, Auckland. Rotationals have always been about keeping the NZ car culture and community alive and kicking, inspiring the next wave of car enthusiasts by bringing the scene together for casual hardparks and cruises. It’s a nod to that grassroots spirit that kicks off every car enthusiast’s journey and truly brings everyone together.
Over the past years, meets became more popular, it became obvious that the streets couldn’t handle the crowds. So, they tried moving things to Mt Smart Stadium, debuting their collaboration with Repco. Turns out, even that couldn’t contain the hype. Mt Smart was jam-packed, with queues snaking outside for what felt like forever. Many enthusiasts ended up hanging out in the surrounding area, popping hoods and chatting away before even setting foot inside the main event. With Auckland’s streets getting too crowded, Rotationals decided it was time for a change and found a proper venue to handle the numbers.
