PENELOPE SPHEERIS on Directing Wayne’s World

When Mike Myers as Wayne Campbell popped in a cassette and ignited a headbanging joyride with Dana Carvey’s Garth Algar and other friends, 1992’s Wayne’s World presented one of the most enduring scenes of ’90s film comedy. On its way to becoming one of the year’s biggest boxoffice hits, Wayne’s World further made its impression on pop culture by imprinting a string of quotes such as “Schwing!” and “We’re not worthy!” on audiences. It also remains the highest-grossing film based on a Saturday Night Live sketch.
