Is there ever a perfect time to start a family? Or to launch a new fishing magazine? Timing matters, and some years are better than others, but you only see that in the rearview mirror.
Anglers Journal debuted smack dab between the Great Recession of 2007-2008 and the 2020 Covid recession. Embarking into either of those economic storms would have likely scuttled our efforts. The timing was fortunate. The magazine is now 10 years old, a healthy adolescent still growing and winning readers amid the plethora of fishing content swirling in from all corners of the media world. We are optimistic there will long be a place for a quality fishing journal that above all else values storytelling, photography and design.

My guiding of the 1960s, the first magazine to which I had a subscription. Our goal with was to gather the best fishing writing, commentary, photography, art and design we could find, and assemble it all in a new magazine.
