Conforming has never been in Nthabeleng Likotsi’s DNA. Coming from a family of entrepreneurs coupled with financial discipline and a love for people has earned her the title of queen of crowdfunding. Born in Botshabelo, Free State, Nthabeleng tapped into her entrepreneurial prowess in high school. “Since I was in a boarding school on the outskirts of the Free State, it was common to run out of things. So, I went to our late school principal, Themba Mabindisa, and asked if I could own a tuck shop. He suggested that I write a business plan or letter so he could present it to the school governing body as part of the school’s projects. The school comprised a girls’ and boys’ section and I needed partners. So, I asked a friend, who had great handwriting, to be my business partner, as well as the boys I deemed to be good. The tuck shop was run successfully for a while.”
