Tales from Tailem Bend

I was one of the people involved with the Tailem Bend Rallycross Track. As a competitor and committee member.

Initially it did OK with moderate crowds and competitors, which we sometimes expanded to include scramble sidecars and offroad 4WDs besides the usual two divisions of sedans and offroad buggies.

The ‘79 Australian Rallycross Championship event was both a good thing and a bad thing. We had to chase the sponsorship money for over a year, meaning we struggled to run normal events after that.
