YOU KNOW BEN POREMBA'S The Benevolent King as a destination for Moroccan fare… like, say, sashimi.

Yes, the King of Benevolent recently abandoned Moroccan fare, hired chef Eliott Harris (whose CV includes experience in numerous Japanese restaurants), and converted the Maplewood boîte's menu to an almost full selection of Japanese fare. We say “almost” because while the menu here features some classics, the emphasis is on some real creativity and complex preparations.

It might be confusing, know he has a deft hand and deep understanding of the elements of Japanese cuisine.
