John Grisham is one of America’s most widely read authors; his newest book in the Camino Island series, Camino Ghosts, is narrated by one of our most widely recognizable contemporary voices, Whoopi Goldberg. Goldberg talked with Booklist about Grisham’s book, audiobooks, and her take on the Freedom to Read.
Heather Booth: In my research, it looks like Camino Ghosts is the first full-length novel you’ve performed as a solo narrator. What made this novel and this project stand out to you?
Whoopi Goldberg: What stood out for me was that John Grisham asked me to read his book. I love him and his work and it was an honor to be asked.
Booth: Did you find narrating a novel to be significantly different than narrating your own memoir, which also came out this May?
Yes, because with my own book, , I could
