The PSYCHOLOGY of SPENDING

We’re all familiar with the concept of retail therapy, splashing out in order to feel better. But we seldom consider whether we have a good relationship with our spending – many emotions, fears and desires could be driving poor habits.

In part, this is because talking about money is still seen as taboo – statistics show that 44% of people in the UK have avoided discussions about it*. Money can be an anxiety-evoking subject, a cause of embarrassment, or we were told that it’s an impolite topic. So we avoid talking about it, missing out on opportunities to understand ourselves better.
