This 1960s Los Angeles poolside vibe is brilliant!’ exclaims Alex as she arrives at the woman&home cover shoot. The south London location house is stunning and Alex, who, by her own admission, feels the cold, is delighted with the idea of being able to enjoy the warmth of the indoor pool area. The day needs to run like clockwork – Alex has a business meeting just after lunch, then she will be filming The One Show, before heading home to her family. It’s a long day by anyone’s standards, but it’s clear that Alex thrives on her job and, as she says, ‘When you’ve got such a great team around you, going to work is like going on holiday!’
A permanent fixture and household name, Alex is incredibly relatable and, as her job proves, willing to take on any challenge. The Welsh native is used to interviewing everyone from prime ministers to Hollywood A-listers in her role as a presenter on The One Show.
This August, she celebrates 14 years on the ever-popular programme and, as she reveals during our interview, it’s still her dream job.
