These heartrending words say it all: Céline Dion is refusing to give up despite the ravages of a disease that have left her a shadow of the star she once was. She might never get back to her best but she’s fighting every day – and now she’s finally telling the world about the battle she’s been waging for years.

For months after her shock 2022 announcement that she had stiff person syndrome (SPS) the singer retreated behind closed doors, giving the occasional update about her health but stopping short of providing much information.

That’s all changed. In the moving documentary I Am: Céline Dion she peels back the layers of her private life and describes in harrowing detail what she’s been going through.

And she’s doing it all for her fans, she says. The film has been described as a love letter to her followers and a platform to express her appreciation for the support she’s received over the years.
