IN CONVERSATION WITH Roisin Quinn

With a place to study interior design at uni but no formal experience, Roisin Quinn applied for series five of BBC One's Interior Design Masters and quit her job of six years working at a travel agency. The show was filmed over summer 2023, with Roisin expecting to start her course in September. However, she was announced the winner at the final in Blenheim Palace instead.

Her self-described 'full-fat maximalist' designs had previously wowed fans on her Instagram, which friends had persuaded her to set up. During lockdown, Roisin was furloughed and took on the project management of her parents' home renovation on the Isle of Man, where she started to experiment with her bold style. We caught up with Roisin to find out about her whirlwind of a year, and why we need to care less about what others think…
