Time it right

Winter pruning of shrubs and trees can be carried out at any time from November to mid-March, while they’re dormant. It’s done for three main reasons – to restrict growth, to promote growth, and to remove any damaged or diseased wood.

Summer pruning results in far less vigorous regrowth than winter pruning, helping to control growth and encourage the development of future flower buds.
