Choose the best site

If you want to make a pond in a shady garden, choose the spot that gets the most light. Ideally it should be in sun for at least half the day. A pond that’s completely shaded the whole time is likely to become stagnant, as the aquatic plants that supply oxygen to the water need some sun to do so.
