Improve aeration and drainage

Spike your lawn in spring or autumn by pushing a fork into the soil and wiggling it from side to side. The holes will aerate the soil, relieve compaction and improve drainage, helping your grass to thrive. Alternatively, you can use a hollow-tined aerating tool.
