Today, SIP’s headquarters in the southern Bavarian town of Landsberg am Lech supplies parts to scooterists around the globe. However, the business owes its existence to the humble Vespa PX80. Back in the 1980s, German licensing laws meant that these largeframe small-capacity scooters were available to 16-year-olds and as a result they helped to create the German scooter scene. Among the schoolboys seduced by the PX were two friends, Ralf Jodl and Alex Barth.
