Scootering

From sow’s ear to silk purse

We’ve all been there. There isn’t a scooter owner in the land who hasn’t spent the day (or two) throwing spanners across the garage in rage or having a tantrum when things don’t go as planned in the repairs department. Well, after many months of me saying how well things are going on the three project scooters, this month the Vespa decided it didn’t want to play ball. I could of course be a grown-up and take responsibility for the issues that I ran into, but I find it more cathartic to blame the scooter.

It was just the simple things, like pulling the indicators out of the box of bits that I threw them into when I stripped the scooter and now realising that although I have purchased new and had to drill it out in the end. No, I don’t want to talk about these things; I’d rather gloss over them and focus on some shiny cylinder kits and exhausts, but the fact is, this month’s Vespa Tech column was quickly sliding into oblivion right in front of my eyes.
