PEPPERS

I'd had a few seasons of fairly average results from growing my peppers in the ground in the polytunnel border or in pots in the greenhouse, but after a visit to a well-known seed company's trial last year (Mr Fothergill's) and seeing its peppers thriving in growing bags I decided to revisit this technique myself this season.
Growing peppers and tomatoes into salads, and especially useful where space is limited – just the thing for a small greenhouse or patio. The drawback, especially with the original bags, was the limited volume of compost they held and I found this meant less room for roots to grow and rapid drying out in the summer – not great if you are away at work all day in a heatwave.
