Fighting spirit of 1976 lives on in the youth of today

As YOUTH Month comes to a close, a key question occupies my mind: What would the youth of 1976 say about today’s South Africa?

This year marks the 48th year since the June 16, 1976 Soweto Uprisings, when students fought for a key human right – proper education. Today, South Africa, although free and fair, remains in a highly precarious position. The stratified result of the May 29 elections was a clear indication that citizens want their voices heard.
