Standing in a friend's living room as music blared, my date's face contorted in rage.

We were in a new relationship and we'd gone to my friend's party.

Then, after too much to drink, he'd kicked off.

Now, we were having a blazing row in front of everyone.

At first, I wanted the ground to swallow me up.

But as my date became more angry, I started to feel scared too.

Suddenly, his mate Jake, then 28, pulled him away.

'Calm down,' he said, then turned to me.

'You OK?' Jake frowned.

'I am now,' I said.

My hero.
