The library has been my comfort zone for as long as I can remember. Going to the library was always an exciting thing for me when I was young, and a little bit of an escape as well. I had some pretty traumatic things happen to me as a child and I always used books as my safe space, to get out of my head and think about something else. That’s kept going; the library is still my safe place now.

I go to the library all the time, even if it’s just for a break while I’m at work. The Port Adelaide library is just down the road from my office, so I’ll go for a little wander, and it’s just so calming. I work as a ghostwriter and editor, so my work is very screen-based, and I like to take time away from the screen. The library is where I reset, but it’s also a place where I can feel comfortable. The staff are always so lovely, no matter what library I go to! But the Port Adelaide library in particular is a very community-driven space and a hub for people, and the staff are always supportive.
