- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5The story has all the right parts, but the pieces didn’t come together for me, and I was so bored.
I didn’t like any of the characters.
Pacing is SLOW.
We have a faint sense of unease throughout, though nothing specific or intense. This line from the synopsis—”But soon Emily realizes that Scott and Nina are hiding dangerous secrets, and if she doesn't play along, the consequences could be deadly,” doesn’t come into play until nearly the end. Up until that point, Emily is oblivious and content.
The big twist is fairly obvious to anyone who reads thrillers, and the ending felt abrupt and unfinished.
That being said, the author does a fantastic job on the narration, and that kept me listening.
