About this audiobook

Kate Zell and Brody Carlson have been best friends since elementary school. Their relationship had always been easy. Both of them loyal to a fault, they had been there for each other through everything: heartbreaks, hangovers, and tragedy. So when Kate needs a place to stay for three months, Brody doesn’t think twice about agreeing. After all, they had known each other forever. What could go wrong living with his closest and oldest friend?

Apparently, everything. Three months in a small apartment becomes more than complicated. Brody shouldn’t be attracted to his dorky best friend…he most definitely shouldn’t. That would be absurd. She’s a relationship girl and he’s more a one-night-sans-clothes kind of guy.

One drunken dare of strip poker changes everything. Suddenly, two people with too much to lose play a dangerous game. The unapologetic playboy and the girl-next-door have a choice to make, if only their pasts didn’t keep getting in the way of their future.

Editor's Note

Raunch-com...

New Adult books generally come in two flavors: Gritty and angsty or furiously funny and sexy. Snowe’s “Take a Chance on Me” is the latter, but it adds a level of kindness that isn’t always there. The two protagonists are elementary school best friends, used to teasing one another through life. Now that they’re working adults they come to see each other very differently, but their strong connection remains the same. Raunchy and filled with banter and bluster.

I liked that it wasn't cringy, there was equal love , trust and respect for each other and that made the story worth being emotionally invested in. Wasn't expecting to cry at the end but my empathic ass started crying when her heart ?. It was overall a good story. Oh and the 1st time I heard his voice. I had to pause to calm down cause it was hot. All the best to you guys that are reading this. ✌?

This book actually surprised me. I thought it was just a typical romance about best friends becoming lovers but it turned out to be much more. The storyline is good and it touches on mental health and suicide which I liked. I thought it was a good listen!

I liked the story, but the way some of the male characters spoke made me cringe.
Understand the football culture, but it made me feel old and cringey

DO NOT RECOMMEND! Bafflingly misogynistic dialogue of the mmc and his friends. Very hypocritical too: gets angry at the fmc for speaking to males while he is sleeping with other girls.

The premise looked promising but I am on chapter 7 and I don't even feel any real warmth in these characters. These characters are supposed to have some angst and all I am getting is a condescending ML. I stopped reading at chapter 7 mark

Trigger warning- suicide discussion. I loved the book but I found myself triggered by Brody's struggle with his brother's suicide. My brother committed suicide when I was 14 and he was 22. I found myself weeping at parts of the book.

This was a very enjoyable and easy read. Both narrators were excellent, and definitely add to the appeal of this book.

If you can get past some of the often, all-to-predictable story lines and plot dramas in a typical HEA, you will definitely enjoy this listen.

Having listened to over 100 titles in the contemporary romance or friends to lovers typed categories, it is nearly almost a given that characters are always ready for sex.

Characters are never just "ordinary looking," and always seems to have a perfect body and are stunningly attractive.

Women are always wet, and men are always hard, ready, and very well endowed.

No one is ever "not in the mood," or has a headache, and erectile dysfunction and menstruation don't exist.

In almost every storyline a third person poses a threat to the main couple's relationship, or a miscommunication or misunderstanding results in one of the pair leaving and the other chasing after them.

In this book, most all of those things (listed above) were true, but easier to swallow given that the two main characters are likeable.
