About this audiobook
Why we believe and the negative effects it has on our thoughts, actions and lives, and the life of the planet, is the subject of Shock The Monkey, This revolutionary book by Adam Allan,B.S.A.
Mr. Allan Characterizes belief as a "virus." that "infects" everyone. Because virtually all of us have some form of belief.
We weren't born with belief. As Mr. Allan reminds us. Belief is a learned behaviour. Passed from parent to child. That is why, as Adults, we have "beliefs."
Mr.Allan explains that belief is aided and amplified by what he terms: "two complimentary viruses." Ego and Desire:
Ego reassuring us of our superiority. And desire, constantly trying to convince us that "wants" are "needs."
Mr. Allan goes on to explain how these three "viruses" work together to convince us that fantasies are facts. And that we should act on them. These he terms - "Adult Fairytales." And reveals why they never have a happy ending.
There is nothing theoretical or philosophical in Shock The Monkey. Only Facts.
As Mr. Allan cogently reminds us: "Facts don't lie. "Facts don't "spin. Facts confirm that something is 'true.' Facts can't be cajoled, threatened or bribed. They tell it like it is. Not how you want it to be."
To say that Shock The Monkey is "thought provoking" is a gross understatement.
Mr. Allan dissects virtually everything we believe. Shining a kleig light of fact supported truth, to reveal "Adult Fairytales" in all their naked emptyness.
