Author

Natalie Barelli

Natalie Barelli can usually be found reading a book, and that book will more likely than not be a psychological thriller. When not absorbed in the latest gripping page-turner, she loves cooking, enjoys riding her Vespa around town, and otherwise spends far too much time at the computer. She lives in Australia with her family. For more information, visit nataliebarelli.com.

A lot like Freida McFadden books. Lots of gaslighting and you will be annoyed/angry at characters, but that's why I read...to feel emotions.

It was a bit of a slow start but the ending was great and so made it worth the read.

The author has an natural technique of spinning a tale to peak the reader’s creative imagination. The book I felt had a slow start, however, sticking with it, I was absorbed and taken in with the definite intrigue. I was glad I listened. Narrator did an excellent job. I like this author. She’s new to me, and I’ll listen to her again.

An overstressed unemployed father, a jealous fiance, and a fancy pants mean girl (deadbeat mom) soon to be ex-wife. What could possibly go wrong? Oh, and throw in a 7 year old girl with mommy issues that bites... nothing to see here.

Bronwyn sweeps in showering her daughter with everything she could ever want (most things she doesn't) except one thing.... unconditional love. All while Laura tries to put out the little fires she leaves in her wake, which continuously makes Laura look like a controlling, hateful, crazy person.
Meanwhile, her fiance is oblivious to it all and thinks she's overreacting. Did I mention he drinks all the time.
The poor little girl has her world turned upside-down and wants to please her mother at any cost....

There were so many twists and turns in this book, I really enjoyed it! I will say I thought there might be one more (a different one) at the end, but there wasn't, which was good too. The number of times I loved a character then hated them was an emotional roller-coaster, and I was here for it!
It's not super murdery but very good suspenseful!

Really dragged on for the first 3/4 of the book -irritating how Laura let herself be treated! Then the end was very rushed -listened to it at fast speed to get through it hoping it would improve

I was not a fan of the main character and it was pretty predictable.

I loved all of the author ‘s other books. This one is boring, a big waste of time, and very disjointed.

Okay, a bit more of a family drama until the very end. Narrator did a great job!

I want to start a search party for Natalie Berrelli. I've loved her books before this one...and this does not sound anything like her. The most unlikable main character, super flat villain, unbelievable and silly ending. I enjoyed her other books so much that I stuck with this until the end, but I wish I hadn't.
