- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Oswald and his dog Weenie are new to town. He makes a whole bunch of new friends when trying to move his piano into his new house. He runs into a penguin, daisy, snowman, and more! Oswald is a great person and will have no trouble making even more friends in the new city. This is a cute story of how one octopus makes friends all by losing control of his piano. It shows a great message about making friend sand helping one another out. This would be a good book to have in a classroom library for entertainment reading.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Oswald the octopus was new to town and worried about making friends. His dog, weenie, encouraged Oswald that he need not worry because he was great at making new friends. Oswald ended up making seven new friends on his first day. He was struggling to get his piano into his new home and all of his new friends were eager to help him. This book teaches children that it is okay to be the new person. If you look at the situation with a positive attitude it will have a positive outcome and you will end up making new friends along the way. The illustrator uses bright colors to and exciting line motion throughout the pages to build up to the happy ending. I am unsure of the character design for Henry the Penguin, however. He rides on top of the piano instead of pushing it. He also begs for food and is greedy. I believe it teaches children that everyone is different but you can still love them the same.
