I love this series and am every so thankful that kids do, too. I really want to be neighbors to Mr. Putter and Mrs. Teaberry.

When the winter storms hit, Mr. Putter decides he wants to write a mystery story. He think and thinks and thinks and comes up with a brilliant title, "The Mystery of Lighthouse Cove." His thinking wears him out and he decides to make a snack, ending his writing for the day. His second day of writing finds him distracted with so many household chores and of course, snacking and napping. All he manages to write is "Chapter One." On the third day, he writes a list of "good things" which he later shares with his neighbor Mrs. Teaberry. She finds his writing wonderful and together they go and and celebrate with vanilla shakes.

This book is good to teach about procrastination. How if we don't really want to do somthing we can put it off. When we do somthing we like we could do it all day. Mr. Putter decides to write a mystery book but finds it hard and procrastinates. Then he starts thinking of things that are good and he wrote all day. He realizes that he is a good writer just not a mystery writer.

We like Cynthia Rylant; my daughter tends to prefer Henry and Mudge, because there are more dogs per page, but she likes Mr. Putter and Tabby, too. This is a sweet book about writing and not writing and cooking and the importance of good reviews.
