- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The story was very touching to see the God of the underworld fighting for his own power agin. Trying to use the human kings as support and the other creation of his performing his will. The demon in question fought for his right and the God of the underworld did his best to claim his son.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Well, first of all, I wasn't expecting Baden's book, so of course I would be let down already. We knew almost nothing about it, besides the fact he was considered the 'good guy' among the Lords before the demon led to his untimely demise. In this book he appears completely different. Free from the demon, but host to a new kind of vicious monster, he is no longer the kind-hearted one. Sometimes you can still see flashes of that man, but now he's basically a beast set loose. To tell you the truth, now that I think about it, I'm positive it was all due to a move of the author trying to show us how the pure one suffered for thousands of years and how he came back a changed, tortured man. Bollocks, if you ask me! Sure, he suffered. But then, aren't the Lords supposed to suffer, each in their own way? Otherwise, they wouldn't be hosts to demons, therefore wouldn't be the Lords of the Underworld as we know them. What I'm trying to say is that, sure, the man had a short temper nowadays and he could be an asshole from time to time, but he was still ok. Not an unforgettable character, not bad either. Just meh!
Katarina, his lady love, was also very bland. Also, that thing about her training Baden as if he was one of her dogs wasn't cute or sexy at all.
Also, and this is another complaint of mine, is it just me or the action in the series is quickly fading away? I know we want romance, but the action part was much a part of the early books. I want adventures, intrigue, journeys in search of lost artifacts or important immortal beings. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This was nice. I was involved enough to care what happened, but not so wrapped up in it that I was annoyed when the characters made a foreseeable mistake or something. (They did a pretty good job not being idiots as well though). It was amusing to see the trope of a heroine taming her beastly hero, with the heroine actually being a professional beast tamer (dog trainer specializing in rehabilitating abused animals). =) It also had a nice balance between checking in with previous characters, and setting up future romances, and still prioritizing this couple.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The first book I have read by this author. The story itself was great, but the dialogue is stilted and annoying. The book doesn't flow because of it and is disappointing. Would not read another.
