About this audiobook
Mindy Kim just wants three things:
1. A puppy!
2. To fit in at her new school
3. For her dad to be happy again
But, getting all three of the things on her list is a lot trickier than she thought it would be. On her first day of school, Mindy’s school snack of dried seaweed isn’t exactly popular at the lunch table. Luckily, her new friend, Sally, makes the snacks seem totally delicious to Mindy’s new classmates, so they decide to start the Yummy Seaweed Business to try and raise money for that puppy!
When another student decides to try and sabotage their business, Mindy loses more than she bargained for—and wonders if she’ll ever fit in. Will Mindy be able to overcome her uncertainty and find the courage to be herself?

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A realistic little adventure with a girl who moves to a new school, is dealing with the loss of her mother, trying to figure out a way to cheer up her dad and fit in at school. I appreciated that the narrator did a good job pronouncing the Korean words.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It was great! My daughter loved Mindy. She thought it was great that Mindy tried new things all the time. My daughter listens to it over and over. This is one of the only books she will listen to. I think you and your kids or kid should most definitely listen to it . It will be great! Trust me.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Cute. Super dog obsessed, but I also love that it turns the "immigrant have weird/stinky food" bs on its head and instead has Mindy trying to deal with too much interest in her snacks. Love the Korean heritage. Love the illustrations and Dad's obvious grief.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Early chapter book perfect for 2nd-3rd graders. This one comes with a cute cover and title, but warning: it is quite a bit sad.Korean-American Mindy Kim has just moved from California to Florida with her Dad after the death of her mom after a long illness. Her family is only one of two Korean-American families in her new neighborhood and her new school is not as diverse as her old school in California. She gets teased a bit about her lunch at school. She is dog-obsessed and schemes about ways of getting a family dog.Themes of family, loneliness, diversity, new kid, friendships.I want to continue in the series, to see how Mindy fares in her new life.
