About this audiobook
1906
Beth Tremayne has always been drawn to adventure. During her childhood, she fed that desire by exploring every inch of the Isles of Scilly. Now, after stumbling across an old collection of letters and a map buried on her family’s property, she’s
found more adventure than she ever anticipated in the hunt for pirate treasure. But in order to discover where the clues lead, she must search alongside Lord Sheridan, a man she finds insufferable.
Sheridan has spent years pursuing whatever archaeological interests pique his imagination. And when he discovers that Beth’s search connects with one of his far-removed pirate ancestors, he can’t help getting involved. Plus, he finds her
irresistible, even though she insists he stole a prized possession of hers.
As they work together following different clues and drawing closer to danger, they start to piece together a story of tragic love and piratical adventure. But which treasure will bring the greatest surprise—the one they find in each other or the one just out of their reach?

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I have thoroughly enjoyed the first two books in this series and quite look forward to the next.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I didn't much like Lord Sheridan in the previous book, and I wasn't very interested in Beth's treasure hunting, but it turns out that the two of them are quite entertaining together! I enjoyed all the main gang's interactions -- but was disappointed that the narrative condones Sheridan's sisters' bossiness and doesn't challenge their privilege at least a little. Yes they're likeable and well meaning and they save the day at least once, but it's only coincidence rather than superior insight that some of their bossiness doesn't cause unintended pain and awkwardness.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5To Treasure an Heiress by Roseanna M. White is the second book in her Secret of the Isles series. Beth Tremayne loves a good adventure. After finding a map and some old letters she is sure that she is on the trail of her greatest adventure – pirate treasure! When danger comes calling, she must grudgingly accept the help of Lord Sheridan; a man she can’t abide. The story starts out with Beth being a brat. She eventually settles down to someone you can tolerate. Lord Sheridan on the other hand was awesome. I loved his sense of humor! There were some great side characters too. After a very slow start the story gained momentum about a hundred pages in and turned out be an interesting read.I received this book from the author for my honest review.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Once again, Roseanna White delivers a story that is full of great characters, mystery, romance, and adventure. I really liked reading more about Beth and Sheridan, who were both introduced in the first novel. Beth dislikes Sheridan, but Sheridan likes Beth, which creates plenty of spunky conversations and feisty debates. We also return to the Isles of Scilly in this novel and the beautiful descriptions of the setting make it easy to be transported to this charming island in the early twentieth century. The mystery in the story kept me turning pages to discover the answers and there were surprising twists along the way. The integration of faith in the book is well done and I loved the wisdom gleaned from one secondary character in particular. I have really been enjoying this series and look forward to the next one! Highly recommended.I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. Opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This book was a fun continuation of the Secret of the Isles series! The pirate story Beth has been chasing is definitely intriguing and provides a great adventure for the reader. The interaction between Beth and Sheridan is really quite humorous and adds a comedic flair to the story. In addition to the comedy, there are some historical elements added to this story as well. It's always fun to find historical gems explored in fictional stories, and I love that the author includes an Author's Note section at the end of the book to let the reader know which parts are actual history and which are fiction. I thought that the book was enjoyable as it kept my interest and brought a smile to my face in several places. I would definitely recommend picking up this series.*I received this complimentary book from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Roseanna M. White excels in creating characters that I'd like to know, placing them in exciting adventures that I'll never have, and then, making me believe that it's all possible. I was sure, after reading The Nature of a Lady, that White couldn't possibly write another book that I would enjoy more. Wrong! I was so very wrong, because this second book in the Secrets of the Isles series is filled with mystery, danger, and adventure, and I absolutely loved it! I also adored the romance between Beth Tremaine and Lord Sheridan. She's full of spirit and wants nothing to do with him, but he finds her irresistible, and he's willing to admit it. He is funny and charming, and this unlikely pair soon realizes a special connection that is stronger and deeper than just searching for a lost pirate treasure. To Treasure an Heiress is wonderful historical fiction with breathtaking romance, great supporting characters, a beautiful setting, and an inspiring faith message of forgiveness and redemption. It's a delightful read and I can't wait to learn more about Emily and Bram, two intriguing characters who deserve their own story.I received a copy of this book from the author and publisher. There was no obligation for a favorable review. These are my own thoughts.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5If it weren’t for the fact that I trust White’s writing style by now, I doubt I would have picked this book up with a title like that. This is a continuation of a mystery/treasure hunt, and I loved getting to know this setting all over again! And the two main characters! One, in particular, had me frequently cracking up at some of the things that were said—he was…a bit oblivious at times. And it made for some rather delightful reading! :) The other…well, she was spunky, and just plain fun.In some respects, I was a bit disappointed in this book. I felt like the romance was more of a main plot point, rather than a subplot, as I prefer (and that is totally my personal preference—nothing wrong on White’s end!). The romantic element was as strong as the mystery. As far as the mystery went—I enjoyed that. There wasn’t as much physical danger in this book as in many of White’s other books, so that made for a lighter read, which was a nice break from the normal. I didn’t figure out the mystery until the end, but that’s pretty typical for me. The characters were well-formed, as I’ve come to expect, and I fell in love with Mamm-wynn all over again. I enjoyed the story, even though it wasn’t my favorite of White’s books. A delightful, light read, perfect if you love gentle romance and a mystery that isn’t a murder mystery.I was given a review copy of this book, and this is my honest opinion of it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5What an enchanting historical romance brimming with side-splitting humor, treasure-hunting mystery, unforgettable characters, tender romance, beautiful faith lessons, and breath-taking scenery! This has to be the funniest book that Roseanna M White has penned; I have not laughed this much while reading a historical fiction in a long time. Sheridan is so incredibly funny yet completely oblivious to his quirky charm. But Sheridan is more than just humorously odd and clumsy mannerisms and speech; his considerate thoughtfulness toward all people - from his beloved sisters to strangers - and his innocent sweetness make him quite the memorable hero. Beth’s loyal love toward family and friends is well-balanced by her free-spirited desire for adventure. Their relationship is a combination of enemies-to-lovers and one-sided love and it’s so much fun!Ainsley, Sheridan’s valet, and Senara, daughter of Beth’s housekeeper, provide the second romance in the story. They’re both steady calming influences in the major characters’ lives and their subplot is achingly tender and redemptive. I hope to see more of them in the next book. Magical folk lore, heady treasure hunt, evil men causing mischief, heart-stopping romance, and tight bonds of family all in an adventure of a lifetime? You don’t want to miss this book!I received the book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are my own.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Delightful! That is the word that comes to mind for this second book in this series. Yes, the search is still on for the treasure, but what is the true treasure? You are about to find out, a grand adventure, and yes, there are some very scary moments, and very tender moments. Your going to love the sisters! Are we going to find the treasure here? There are so many treasures here, and we get to unwrap them, filled with humor and a bit of romance, you will quickly be turning the pages! You are going to love your gift!I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Bethany House, and was not required to give a positive review.
