About this audiobook
Three Charming and Festive Holiday Novellas Spiced with Humor, Frontier Action, and Sweet Romance
In this 3-in-1 novella collection, bestselling author Karen Witemeyer presents the new story “A Texas Christmas Carol,” in which a town’s wealthy, Scrooge-like bachelor finds his world invaded by a woman set on earning his donation for
helping the local poor, and by the penetrating questions of three mysterious visitors.
It also includes, for the first time in print, “An Archer Family Christmas.” When the Archer clan gathers for the Christmas holiday, an unexpected request for help leaves Cassandra Archer directly in the path of a dangerous outlaw. Desperate to
protect the woman he loves, Jim Archer races to the rescue, only to find that Cassie’s life is not the only one in peril. It will take a Christmas miracle—and the entire Archer clan—to keep a second Archer Christmas from ending in disaster.
In previously published “Gift of the Heart,” a widow and her young daughter move to Hope Springs for a fresh start. But with no money to secure a home, Ruth must convince a wealthy resort owner to accept her heirloom brooch as collateral.
Will the pin that brought love to three generations soften the heart of a wounded recluse and give Ruth a second chance at love as the holidays draw near?
Sprinkled throughout the collection, you’ll find a hope-filled Christmas devotion, Witemeyer holiday recipes, and fun facts about nineteenth-century Christmas celebrations!

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Very creative. I enjoyed this collection very much. There were lots of author notes, a devotional and input, which made this extra special!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Well done but I was hping for a bit more western and less being completely about romance.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Really enjoyed all three stories! The Archer Family Christmas was the one I was most anticipating but both of the other stories were delightful!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I never tire of Christmas and I have a list of books and movies that I love to revisit each year during the holiday season. I now have a new book by Karen Witemeyer to add to that list! Under the Texas Mistletoe is a collection of three novellas that are set in Texas during the 1890s, and they carry the Witemeyer trademarks of humor, romance, family, and faith. I found myself smiling and laughing, but there were also moments of tears. Memories of past Christmases with my family are often bittersweet, and these stories of Christmas and family filled me with the same emotions. Each novella is a joy to read, and I love Witemeyer's mission to share the true meaning of Christmas in each of them. 'A Texas Christmas Carol' has a Texas banker who thinks like Ebenezer Scrooge but is capable of causing heart palpitations; 'An Archer Family Christmas' introduces a tiny baby who promises to bring love and joy to the Archer family; and 'Gift of the Heart' features a widow who must sacrifice a family heirloom so that she can secure shelter for her and her daughter. All three are lovely, heartwarming tales that allude to treasured Bible stories, and there are three added bonuses. Who wouldn't like two Christmas recipes, a look at some American Christmas traditions of the 19th century, or an inspiring devotional about the greatest gift ever given?Under the Texas Mistletoe is an absolute delight and I recommend it to all who enjoy historical romance and Christmas-themed stories. Reading it will surely put you in the Christmas spirit!I received a copy of this book from the author and Bethany House Publishers. There was no obligation for a positive review and I am voluntarily sharing my thoughts.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Under the Texas Mistletoe is a collection of Christmas Historical Romance Novellas by Karen Witemeyer. She is among one of my favorite authors and this one does not disappoint. It was fun catching up with characters from her previous books. The novellas include:A Texas Christmas CarolAn Archer Family ChristmasGift of the HeartI enjoyed every single one of these novellas. They are exactly what I would expect from this author. Fun entertainment that keeps me reading until the end.I am giving Under the Texas Mistletoe a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoyed reading historical romance novella collections. As always, I will be looking forward to more by Karen Witemeyer in the future.I received a paperback copy of Under the Texas Mistletoe from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A Texas Christmas Carol - I loved how Felicity is the perfectly charming antidote to Eben’s tough demeanor. Their interactions are fun and their romance is believable. The lesson of learning the true meaning of Christmas is well woven in the story. This novella is the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit! An Archer Family Christmas - It is such a treat to be able to read more about the Archer family! This novella has some sad moments but the thread of hope is well integrated in the story and the plot has a satisfying conclusion. The story flows well and is fast-paced; I had a hard time setting this one aside! The themes of family and faith are once again strong and make a great overall story.Gift of the Heart - With amusing bits and charming wit, this novella shines the brightest in this collection. There are several Biblical connections in the story that are such a neat link. I like that the characters are strong in spirit, but also relatable and needing to rely on God’s strength just like we do. This story did not feel like a novella for it flowed as well as a full-length novel. I greatly enjoyed this story! Each of these novellas has charm, romance, and faith that together create a collection that is well worth the read!I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. Opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
