About this audiobook

Vienna Stratton knew she only had herself to blame. You didn't let yourself become indebted to a man like Dane Davenport, no matter how badly you needed his help. As his personal assistant, she was very aware that the globally successful CEO was ruthless and unforgiving.

Of course, if she'd known he'd request that she be his wife for twelve months, she'd have hesitated in accepting his help. Because what she'd learned from Dane was that the devil wasn't ugly and terrorizing. He was seductive and captivating. He hummed with whispers of temptation-the temptation to sin and surrender, to let him brand and possess you. He awakened every need and fantasy you had.

He could even make you love him.

Contains mature themes.

This was so bad, it was like pulling teeth. One of my pet peeves is the guy calling the girl "baby girl" and this book had that in spades. There was no chemistry between the characters. The heroine kept misunderstanding the hero's feelings and he kept trying to difuse the miscommunication although he was the one with emotional issues. This was so boring and the narration was overly dramatic.

Narration was fine. But the story was redundant. Basically: Dane & Vienna have a marriage of convenience, someone tries to break them up, they talk about it and stay strong, someone else tries to break them up, they talk about it and stay strong, rinse/repeat ×100. It's great that they have great communication skills but it made for a boring story because nothing else happened and the book is sooo long. I was hate reading/listening to it by the 20% point and I only kept reading it because I don't like DNF-ing books.

I really enjoyed this book and the chemistry between Dane and Vienna sizzled. His family were horrendous and her father was such fun. I just felt that it went on far too long.

There were a lot of pages with a lot of repeats.

This is a workplace romance with a marriage of convenience and an age gap.

Vienna is a strong heroine with a no-BS attitude and that's exactly why Dane approaches her with a proposition. One that doesn't affect her job and will help Dane get his inheritance.

Dane is a very hard character to like and he is one I didn't get to gel with at all through the story. He was too "alpha" and it was a turn-off. He always wanted to be in control and have all the power. It wasn't an attractive trait. Even his soft side made me squirm. Vienna and Dane had many stand-offs which really showed her immaturity and the dramatics were overbearing. This happened a few times and of course, Dane had many conquests which continued to appear at Vienna's door with the same story to cause problems. All the side characters highlighted the same of similar problems to Vienna which wasn't something that was needed. It was very repetitive and even Vienna started to become sick of it.

Vienna has a difficult family life and it was interesting to see the development of her father. This was probably the most interesting part of the story but moments did happen often where they seemed to be filler pages for the book.
