About this audiobook
As if a near-death experience at the hands of an old coffeemaker wasn't embarrassing enough, I woke up to find I could talk to animals. Or rather one animal in particular.
His full name is Octavius Maxwell Ricardo Edmund Frederick Fulton, but since that's way too long for anyone to remember, I've taken to calling him Octo-Cat. He talks so fast he can be difficult to understand, but seems to be telling me that his late owner didn't die of natural causes like everyone believes.
Well, now it looks like I no longer have a choice, apparently my life calling is to serve as Blueberry Bay's first ever pet whisperer P.I. while maintaining my façade as a paralegal at the offices of Fulton, Thompson Associates.
I just have one question: How did Dr. Doolittle make this gig look so easy?

What our readers think
Readers find this title to be a light-hearted and fun cozy mystery with a touch of humor. The main character, Angie Russo, is intelligent and slightly zany, and her ability to talk to animals adds an interesting twist. The plot is engaging and keeps the reader hooked from start to finish. The relationship between the two leads is described as magical. The narrator is highly praised for her enjoyable and non-robotic reading. Overall, readers highly recommend this book for its cute story, likable sleuth, and talking pet."
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5It was a cute and easy listen. The audio was great. Just what you'd expect from a cozy :)
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Loved it!
Especially like Ann Richardson reading.
Doesn't sound like a robot like so many and enjoyable to listen to. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Yesterday, I sat by the fireplace with my tabby cat listening to Kitty Confidential. I loved the story and narrator. Highly recommend!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A joy to read! More than just a good cozy. The relationship between the two leads was magical.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Such a cute story, I'm not a huge fan of talking pets. But I fell in love with Octocat, and Angie is sich a likable sleuth. Really enjoyed this story.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was recommended to me as a fan of Katherine Hayton's cozy mysteries. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, which was funny and sweet. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I don't remember how I found this series, but regardless, only listening to the first in the series, I'm in love with it. First, it is a pretty short book. Second, it is a cozy mystery, again, first in a series. Third, I loved the narrator for this book, she made this book so much better, inn my opinion. So, in kitty confidential, we're following Angie russo, paralegal to many attorneys in the practice,"glorified secretary" according to some in the office. Bethany, secretary sorta likes Angie. Due to Angie's being late one day, the day of the will reading of attorney fulton's great aunt Ethel, she's in charge of making coffee for everyone in their extremely old coffeepot. This old coffeepot, zaps Angie enough to knock her out and send her to the ER. It also gave her the ability, to speak to and understand cats. One cat in particular. Octo cat, ethel's cat, who Angie helps get justice for her murder.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The cute cover immediately drew my attention to this first book in this cozy mystery series from Molly Fitz. I'm a sucker for cozy covers that feature cats! Then I was completely taken in by the idea of an amateur sleuth that can talk to animals. Fun! :)
The basics: Angie Russo is rethinking her life choices when a near death experience changes her life....a quick zap and suddenly she can talk to animals and somehow promised to help a cat find his owner's killer. Definitely never a dull moment!
This book was light-hearted, fun entertainment from start to finish. The story is a nice mix of cozy murder mystery and humor. Angie Russo is an intelligent and slightly zany main character. Octo-cat is snarky, opinionated and spoiled -- as any cat (but much more). The plot kept my attention from start to finish.
I listened to the audio book version. Narrated by Ann Richardson, the audio is just over four hours long. Richardson does a great job narrating. She has a pleasant voice, brings the characters to life, and reads at a nice pace. All in all, a very entertaining listening experience!
I'm definitely going to continue reading this series! This was the first book by Molly Fitz that I have read....and I enjoyed it enough to read all her books! (less) - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Kitty Confidential (Pet Whisperer P.I. Book 1)by Molly FitzA fast paced cozy mystery, engaging often funny dialog, original (fun) plot and likable characters. A talking cat added to my fondness of this story. Overall I found Kitty Confidential enjoyable. I recommend to those who like mystery with a feline twist.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Angie Russo's current temp assignment is working as a paralegal at Fulton, Thompson, and Associates in Glendale, Maine. It was quite a morning when Angie met Octavius Maxwell Ricardo Edmund Frederick Fulton in the conference room at work. Quite a morning!I can't wait until you read Angie's story. Or, perhaps I should say Octo-Cat's story. This cozy is the very definition of cozy mystery fun! I was laughing out loud from the moment Octavius introduced himself to Angie. When they agree to become a sleuthing team, they're invincible. It is an entertaining delight with investigation twists, but the cutest cozy moments are the conversations between Angie and Octo-Cat, especially when Octo-Cat explains food and drink preferences and the timing of service. Their in-person conversation is fun, but I loved Angie's unique communication technique when they are in different locations. As Melissa Storm writes as Molly Fitz for cozy mystery titles, I'm also looking forward to reading more of her cozies and HEA romances!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5A fun little story, but just average overall.
I'll probably not continue with the series. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A shocking accident leaves Angie with the ability to talk to cats, at least she can talk to one very important cat. Octo-Cat insists his elderly owner was murdered, and that Angie must avenge her death. This is definitely a cat with catitude! Suffice it to say, this delightful cozy is an imaginative and well written mystery. Angie is quirky enough to be interesting and yet really likable even with all her foibles. She really likes learning, as her seven college degrees attest, but working? That’s another story. Her grandmother is a lovable and stable influence in her life, but the real star of the show is, of course, Octo-Cat. This is wonderful debut novel in what a hope is a very long series.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is such a fun cozy mystery. I loved how an everyday paralegal almost dies from getting shocked and than finds out that she can talk to animals. She than uses this ability to help solve crimes. I laughed a lot throughout this book. I am looking forward to reading more books in this series. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This was an unusual book for me to read, especially since I’m not a cat person. I’ve read many of this authors books and have always enjoyed them. This was an ok book but I just can’t get into a talking cat. The story line was good and had some mystery to it. The author does a good job giving all the characters a unique personality even the cat. Not too often a cat helps solve a murder but that’s what happens in the book. After reading the will of the cat’s owner, the cat is left everything but what’s really unusual is the cat starts talking to the main character, from there the two of them solve what turns out to be a murder. If you like cats and cozy mysteries this is the book for you. For me, I’ll keep reading the author’s other books and skip talking cats.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Kitty Confidential is a quirky and humorous cozy mystery. Angie Russo loves to learn and has earned seven degrees from the local community college. But a girl needs to work if she wants to take more classes (I know the feeling). She loves shopping at the local dollar store and her clothing has an 80s vibe (she really does not fit in at the law office). After being shocked by the old coffee maker, Angie can now talk to Octo-Cat. He needs her help in proving his deceased owner was murdered. Kitty Confidential is a story that will keep you laughing. There is one zany incident and unique character after another. Octo-Cat grows on you as the story progresses. I loved the cat’s reaction when he was served tap water in a dollar bowl (he only drinks Evian in crystal or Lennox). Octo-Cat’s snide comments had me chuckling. I like the author’s casual writing style and the story progresses at a speedy pace. Kitty Confidential is one of those books that you need to suspend your disbeliefs and reality. You just need to read the story and go with the flow. The mystery is unassuming, but there is misdirection to distract readers. Kitty Confidential is a cute, entertaining cozy mystery that will brighten your day.
