I thought I would try some other books by this author, and picked this one out. I am familiar with another series that she wrote, that’s more in the category of adventure in an alternate world where magic exists. I think that this book is some of her earlier writing, and I wasn’t able to get into it as much. I prefer more tension, witty banter, and a larger obstacle in my romances so this felt more straightforward and run-of-the-mill. I finished about half of the book before feeling like I wasn’t invested enough to put more time into listening.
