About this audiobook
Quellcrist King has been playing a part his entire life. The more famous he becomes, the more he hides. The only person he ever let see the real him rose with him from nothing to the very top.
They were the king and queen of Hollywood-and then she wanted a divorce. The only way to survive his depression is to bury himself in work. If he can be a character, maybe he won't have to remember himself. A gay role can't be any different than playing a straight one, can it?
But instead of finding solace in the character, he finds it in his costar. Hale becomes his best friend, his lifeline, the light in his darkness. Quell is forced to examine everything he thought he knew about himself while filming intimate scenes with Hale that feel more real than anything ever has before.
He's lived his entire life following the script. What would life be like unscripted?
Contains mature themes.

What our readers think
Readers find this title to be a beautifully written book that evokes a range of emotions. The characters are well-developed and the plot is engaging. Some readers felt that certain scenes were rushed or could have been explained better, but overall, they still recommend the book. It is not a high drama story, but it has moments of passion. However, there was one reader who did not finish the book because they found it neither realistic nor captivating enough.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Great story! I got super attached to the characters already. I do wish some of the scenes weren't as rushed, or were explained a bit better, but it did not destroy the experience. I still recommend this one.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This might be the furthest thing from an eloquent review. Sometimes, a book does so much more than introduce you to strangers living in an imagined setting. This is one of those. Emotions bled from every chapter. Excitement, nervousness, happiness and, of course, some swooning. But, most of all, understanding. Better yet, it made me feel understood (odd, right?).
Disclaimer: none of the above means to take anything from all the tradicional pluses of well written book. It’s all there: character growth, relationship build-up, backstory, supportive plot.
I loved it. Part of the reason why I tend to choose audiobooks over paperbacks is that they help silence the inner dwellers and take me out of my own head. This story took it a bit further by making me feel that even though we are, in fact, our own worst enemies, that doesn’t mean that we’re not understood.
PS: I’m aware that a review isn’t a message to the author, even if I made my seem like one. Authors are rarely as appreciated as they should. Know that, in this case, you are. - Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5DNF.
Just wasn't either realistic enough, nor far flung enough to make me not care that it wasn't realistic. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Beautiful story. Loved that it wasn’t high drama but with all the pining. The sex scenes when they came were sexy. Definitely worth the read.
