About this audiobook
Think smart people are just born that way? Think again.
Drawing on diverse studies of the mind, from psychology to linguistics, philosophy, and learning science, Art Markman, Ph.D., demonstrates the difference between "smart thinking" and raw intelligence, showing listeners how memory works, how to learn effectively, and how to use knowledge to get things done. He then introduces his own three-part formula for listeners to employ "smart thinking" in their daily lives.
Smart Thinking gives listeners:
*The means to replace self-limiting habits with new behaviors that foster smart thinking
*An understanding of the mind itself as well as memory
*The ability to define and solve problems by finding and applying relevant knowledge
*Ways to present and process information effectively

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5The useful information in this book could be reduced to a note card. The illustrative examples read like a redundant series of infomercials.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I enjoy books that take science and academia and put them in terms that anyone can understand. Smart Thinking does that. It is essentially a book about how your mind works when it comes to solving problems. One of the main points I took away is that your mind needs to be able to connect the dots. You may not know how to solve a problem, but you have a lot of other knowledge that could be useful in helping you identify a way to solve the problem. You just need to let your mind connect the dots of what you do know to lead you to the answer. The other major takeaway is that most people remember three things about any encounter they have. I will be able to use this in my work to be more effective.
