What our readers think
Readers find this title to be a must-read, with authoritative writing that brings a somberness. It is compared to the Bible and Pilgrim's Progress, and is highly recommended for young Christians. The book is seen as a magnificent work that can be shared with future generations.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5If you ever wanted to leave a letter to your son, this would be it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I would put this book there with Pilgrim's Progress as a book every young Christian should read with the BIBLE in hand as well. This book will remind you you are not adamantium, you will be washed away by the sands of time if you do not build your house on the EVERLASTING ROCK. Read and be edified!!!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Author authoritative writing completely brings you to a somberness. A must read for every breathing being.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is a magnificent work done by J. C. Ryle. It is one that I will share with my son when he is of age. I highly recommend it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Not a better book to listen to besides the Bible.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Conviction, encouragement, and hope abound. Ryle’s classic is still eerily relevant for today. It’s value to the church and to Christian men could not be calculated. Will be going on my mandatory reading list for my boys when they are older.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A book written over a hundred years ago by an Anglican bishop, relevant for today's teens? Yes, it is. Thoughts for Young Men is short, blunt, Biblical truth directed specifically to young men. He outlines pride, love of pleasure, thoughtlessness, contempt, and fear of men as specific dangers that young men must watch out for, and gives specific advice on how to deal with them. He has sections on rooting out sin, the importance of the Bible, and prayer. It is a great starting point for talking with a teen or group of teens seriously about walking with Christ.
