- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I really enjoyed this book, I grew up in a family where my father figure was verbally abusive with every one of us and I can relate to the feelings the 3 brothers experienced, as myself felt that way at some point, each brother represent a very specific moment in time during my own father’s relationship as a grew up and this author can reflect on this contradiction between love and hate, the expectations not met and the pressure of never being enough.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5So compelling. The characters are so finely crafted- as you get to know their vulnerability and flaws.
A deep understanding dive into what it means to be a first generation immigrant, the unspoken lines between us and them, prejudice and the tension between what we leave behind when we choose to become something else.
This is a brilliant premise- with love and self-loathing in every line- you'll want to keep going to know what happens next.
