Author

JJ Makenzie

JJ Makenzie is a USA Today bestselling author of rom-coms and contemporary romance. She also pretends to be a rock star in her car. She’s obsessed with 70s and 80s music but also has a soft spot for a good country ballad. Her days are spent writing among the beautiful Rocky Mountains. At night she dreams of all the characters she has yet to introduce to the world. She may also be a crime fighter, but that’s another story.

Made it about three chapters in, I don’t think I’ll be revisiting this title again. “Women aren’t allowed to have names or show their faces or be raised by other women bc women are bad” is a major theme in the mcs background

Very good! But know this ends with a cliffhanger…can’t wait to start the second book!

Love love loved this story. I loved most, it was NOT x-rated and left me to my own imagination. The story developed in such a way I found myself thinking evil will win, but good just hung in there , choosing not to be hateful, for the extra measure and was rewarded with success. Very thoughtful and clever writing.

I give this a good solid 3. The writing isn’t terrible and while it’s interesting, it gets redundant at times. It’s another arranged marriage story when the woman doesn’t want to consummate the marriage and is hopeful she’ll be rescued by an outside party. I got mostly through it but honestly, I won’t finish it because it’s so traumatizing on consummation and psychological rape that I had to walk away. The author is talented, I hope in future works they’ll focus more on world development, character building, plot building, etc. I would read other works by this author.
