Michael McGarrity is the author of the Kevin Kerney mystery novels including Tularosa, nominated for an Anthony Award; Mexican Hat; and Serpent Gate. A former Santa Fe County deputy sheriff, he also served as an instructor at the New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy and as an investigator for the New Mexico Public Defender’s Office. He lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Synopsis: Officer Clayton Istee finds two bodies in a deserted fruit stand; one fresh and one several years old. These separate murders lead he and his father, Kevin Kerney, on a multi-state search for clues to both homicides and bring them closer together.Review: Weaving the procedurals of the two homicides together makes for an interesting story. The underlying interactions of Kerney and Istee, as well as Kerney and Sara add a bit of relief from the narrative tension.
