About this audiobook
#1 New York Times bestselling author Catherine Coulter returns with another pulse-pounding thriller featuring FBI agents Dillon Savich and Lacey Sherlock...
A serial killer is on the loose, and it's up to FBI agents Dillon Savich and Lacey Sherlock to bring him down. They soon discover that the killer has blood ties to an infamous and now long-dead monster. Savich and Sherlock are joined by agents Lucy Carlyle and Cooper McKnight, and the chase is on.
At the same time, Agent Carlyle learns from her dying father that her grandfather didn't simply walk away from his family twenty-two years ago: he was, in fact, murdered by his wife, Lucy's grandmother. Determined to find the truth, Lucy moves into her grandmother's Chevy Chase mansion. What she finds, however, is a nightmare. Not only does she discover the truth of what happened all those years ago, but she faces a new mystery, one that has been passed down from mother to daughter for generations.
As the hunt for the serial killer escalates, Savich realizes he's become the killer's focus, and perhaps the next victim. It's up to Lucy to stop this madness before it's too late.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The plot and narration are good but it could have been a couple of hours shorter
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I thought the part about the ring was absurd! Also, does every partner in the FBI marry or date?
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was one of my favorite Catherine Coulter books! We have a serial killer on the loose, stalking women in bars and killing them. Savich and Sherlock, along with two new agents, are trying to track down this mysterious killer who dresses all in black, when (view spoiler) Much drama ensues as they fly around the country pursuing leads, and the craziness and intrigue hits a new level once they start digging around into the potential suspect’s past.
In several secondary stories, an elderly shop owner is targeted for murder, and one of the FBI agents is at her father’s bedside as he passes, only to hear him blurt out information about a crime committed long ago. Could this be true, and what really happened? And what is this family trying to hide? A really cool, twisty thriller with surprises around every bend! - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Three plot threads -- the team is on the hunt for a serial killer who turns out to be Ted Bundy's daughter; Lucy Carlyle and Cooper McKnight fall in love despite his playboy reputation; Lucy's father dies but says before he passes away that he saw his mother kill his father. Lucy moves into the family house to try to investigate and discovers a magic ring that lets the holder (if the holder is the right person) redo the last 8 seconds of time. Also Savich is trying to figure out who is trying to kill an elderly convenience store owner. Exciting thriller!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Odd paranormal element in the plot.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Some of the writing seems to be going downhill. Love the characters but it seems to be losing depth.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5FBI agents Dillon Savich and Lacey Sherlock are on the hunt for a horrific serial killer. This killer has blood ties to a long dead monster. They bring in fellow agents Lucy Carlyle and Cooper McKnight to help bring this killer to justice.
Lucy's beloved father is dying and on his death bed he reveals a terrible family secret. Lucy is determined to get to the bottom of this mystery and moves into her late grandmother's house. What she finds in the attic sends her reeling. She soon realizes that its more then just a murder that involves her family.
There's no other way to say it: "Split Second" is a winner that reminds us how the life we know can change in an instant. I have loved this series from the beginning and each book just adds to the enjoyment. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This had several stories going on. The main one was a murderous rampage by the daughter of Ted Bundy. There are also secondary stories involving a shop keeper whose life has been put in danger and a mystery about one of the team and her missing grandfather. There was also a romance between two of the team and it worked well. This is like Criminal minds lite. Nothing wrong with it but feels a bit formulaic, not in a bad way but I like how the characters interact. The romance felt fairly real, but at the same time there should have been a little more introspection about work relationships, I'm sure there are regulations.Overall, not a bad read.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Dillon Savich again tries to protect his wife and the mother of his child, agent Lacey Sherlock from harm. And again her reaction is petulant and childish. agents Lucy Carlyle and Cooper McKnight provide the romance. Agent Carayle learns of a little white? magic that is passed through her family from mother to daughter, but dose not share this with anyone.A most unsatisfactory novel on any level.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A good suspense story with some romance in the background. Exciting fast paced action including Savich and Sherlock with multiple crimes to solve. Lucy and Coop are leads on the FBI team to catch a serial killer when Lucy's father has a heart attack.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5A typical 'shoot-em-up-at-the-end book; also a bit too complicated. Mixing up Ted Bundy's daughter and a magic ring! it was a bit too much!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Dillon and Sherlock are back - this time they're tracking down a serial killer with a penchant for color-blocking, bar pick-ups and a daddy-fixation, as well as investigating a convenience store hold-up that isn't exactly what it seems. Newly partnered agents Lucy Carlyle and Cooper McKnight are on the serial killer case, as well. Complicating matters there is the pair's growing attraction for one another, and some family history of Lucy's that's coming home to roost. Coulter's signature style gets a bit muddled among all the plots, and neither Lucy nor Coop comes off well. An okay read, but nothing special.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Savich and Sherlock are back along with Lucy Carlyle & Cooper McKnight. Lucy is mourning the recent loss of her father and trying to cope with his deathbed exclamation that implied that her Grandmother has murdered her Grandfather years ago. Lucy moves back into her family home to investigate and finds out more than she expects. At the same time, Savich stops a grocery store robbery that becomes more than that when there is a second attempt on the store owner's life. On top of this the FBI team is investigating the "Black Beret" serial killer only to find out the killer has some surprising connections to Serial Killer Ted Bundy. Three cases being juggled by members of the team of FBI agents makes for some catch-up and confusion at times.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Tracking a serial killer that turns out to be Ted Bundy’s daughter (Kirsten) while still reeling from her fathers recent death bed confession, Agent Lucy Carlyle and Agent Cooper McKnight are the targets for kidnapping and murder. The few moments she has off, Lucy spends trying to decipher her fathers words, until one night she discovers the remains of what can only be her own grandfather in the attic. While Lucy is dealing with her family matters, Coop takes on Kirsten while Agent Dillon Savich looks into a series of attacks on a local grocer and Agent Lacy Sherlock helps out any way she can. The CAU (Criminal Apprehension Unit) is known for being the best, will the best be enough up against so many cases at one time. This one is all about the suspense. While it is great to see Savich and Sherlock working cases more directly again, there was almost too much work. Three cases all vying for Agent time and talent - the attacks on the grocer almost seems to be more of a distraction for Savich and took time away from the good cases and any romance brewing between Lucy and Coop. It was almost like “love at first sight” except they had worked in the same office for a while but never as close as they have to for the Kirsten case. The romance just happened too quick, too easy, almost felt more unnatural than Lucy’s personal discovery. Liked the suspense of Bundy’s daughter, the whole father / grandmother / grandfather story was great but I was left wanting just a tad bit more of the romance that seemed to have all happened off page. I will still read any more of the FBI series that Catherine Coulter writes, I just hope that the romance comes back.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5We, of course, don't enjoy these stories because they are plausible, but that's part of the fun. I love the relationship between Savitch and Sherlock, and I'm even beginning to be reconciled to the continually growing cast of characters. I thoroughly enjoyed the fast pace, the characterizations, and the upbeat nature of this book and look forward to the next FBI thriller Ms. Coulter produces for us.
