About this audiobook

Lieutenant Eve Dallas must foil a terrorist plot in this explosive thriller in the #1 New York Times bestselling In Death series.

It was just another after-work happy hour at a bar downtown—until the madness descended. And after twelve minutes of chaos and violence, more than eighty people lay dead.

Lieutenant Eve Dallas is trying to sort out the inexplicable events. Surviving witnesses talk about seeing things—monsters and swarms of bees. They describe sudden, overwhelming feelings of fear and rage and paranoia. When forensics makes its report, the mass delusions make more sense: it appears the bar patrons were exposed to a cocktail of chemicals and illegal drugs that could drive anyone into temporary insanity—if not kill them outright.

But that doesn't explain who would unleash such horror—or why. Eve's husband, Roarke, happens to own the bar, but he's convinced the attack wasn't directed at him. It's bigger than that. And if Eve can't figure it out fast, it could happen again, anytime, anywhere. Because it's airborne...

What our readers think

Readers find this title to be an interesting and suspenseful novel set in a near-future world. The book explores the emotional aftermath of past events and features excellent narration. Some fans of the 'In Death' series may find it less satisfying due to less character development and explicit content. However, readers appreciate the involvement of the character Roarke and the truce between Somerset and Eve.

Great and exciting series from the beginning it was very much well entertaining with many victims. Mass killer who killed without mercy or with care of the people he brought to their over jealous and evnuos for job he did not do. He claimed for but sooner people begin to notices and he plan their death. He took pleasure in causing great pain and predominantly death in the larger number. Trying to take out those he thinks are in his ways.

He even thinks that he can out smart the police especially the women. But this women played him like an instrument. Including covering up until the end leading him to tell on himself. They also were able to uncover his dairy about his grandmother. They went after her and she was also taken down.

An old terrorist group from the Urban Wars has re-emerged with devastating results. Eve is still dealing with the emotional aftermath of Dallas but nothing will stop her from doing the job.

Interesting to hear more about the near-future events, preceding Eve's current time period. Mostly a suspense novel, which I personally prefer, but know that some 'In Death' fans may find less satisfying - since less character development, sex, and so on; though Eve continues to explore the impact of her childhood. Excellently narrated, as usual
